Öğe Advanced Septoplasty: Correction of Dorsal Deflections(Elsevier, 2022) Apaydin, F.; Garcia, R.F.F.-P.; Sr.[No abstract available]Öğe ChatGPT and Rhinoplasty Recovery: An Exploration of AI's Role in Post-Operative Guidance(Thieme Medical Publishers, Inc., 2023) Capelleras, M.; Soto-Galindo, G.A.; Cruellas, M.; Apaydin, F.The potential applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare have garnered significant interest in recent years. This study presents the first published exploration of ChatGPT, an AI language model, as a tool for providing post-operative guidance during rhinoplasty recovery. The primary objective was to shed light on the role of ChatGPT in augmenting patient care during the critical post-operative phase. Using the Rhinobase database, standardized questions were formulated to evaluate AI-generated responses addressing pain management, swelling, bruising, and potential asymmetries. Results demonstrated that ChatGPT has the potential to enhance patient education and alleviate emotional distress by providing general information and reassurance during the recovery process. However, the study emphasized that AI should not replace personalized advice from qualified healthcare professionals. This pioneering investigation offers valuable insights into the integration of AI and human expertise, paving the way for optimized post-rhinoplasty recovery care. © 2023 Thieme Medical Publishers, Inc.. Three major complaints are dorsal hump, droopy, and wide tip. The surgeon should be able to use both endonasal and external approaches in these patients. Dorsal hump removal should be done as meticulously as possible by using traditional and powered instruments. Middle vault reconstruction should be performed by spreader flaps or grafts. In selected cases, dorsum preservation should be mastered as well. In tip plasty, lateral crural turn-in flap is a good solution in wide or boxy tips. Tip sutures should be the mainstay in primary rhinoplasty, whereas the grafts should be more elaborately used in revision cases. The nasal septum should be addressed from simpler septoplasty to difficult segmental reconstruction techniques. Revision rhinoplasty should be performed by experienced surgeons. In cases where grafts are needed, oblique-split sculpting method of the rib cartilage is a game changer. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2022.Öğe Effectiveness of ChatGPT to Identify and Accurately Guide Patients in Rhinoplasty Complications(Thieme Medical Publishers, Inc., 2023) Soto-Galindo, G.A.; Capelleras, M.; Cruellas, M.; Apaydin, F.Introduction: Postoperative complications in rhinoplasty require prompt intervention for optimal outcomes. ChatGPT, an AI tool, offers potential for assisting in postoperative care. Objective: This study aims to assess ChatGPT's effectiveness in providing guidance for various rhinoplasty complications. Methods: Different complication scenarios were inputted into ChatGPT. Responses were categorized into "Contact Surgeon" or "Follow Postoperative Instructions." Results: ChatGPT consistently advised immediate surgeon contact for infection. For other complications, it recommended monitoring and adhering to instructions, while suggesting surgeon contact if concerns persisted. Conclusion: ChatGPT shows promise in aiding patients' postoperative care by accurately identifying cases necessitating communication with surgeons or emergency care. This research underscores AI's potential in enhancing patient-centered care and contributes to the evolving landscape of healthcare practices. © 2023 Thieme Medical Publishers, Inc.. When conducted excessively, cephalic trim can cause valve collapse. However, instead of removing the cephalic segment of the lateral crus, it can be turned in and sutured like a sandwich. By this preservation technique, the deformed lateral crus can be reshaped more favorably and supported. If the scroll area is kept intact, this flap can be helpful supporting both the external and internal valve. © 2023 Elsevier Inc.
