| dc.description.abstract | Two new triterpenoid saponins, transsylvanosides G and H, were isolated from Cephalaria transsylvanica and their structures established as 3-O-[beta-D-glucopyranosyl(1-->4)-beta-D-glucopyranosyl (1-->3)-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1-->2)-beta-D-xylopuranosyl] hederagenin 28-O-[beta-D-glucopyranosyl(1-->4)-beta-D-xylopyranosyl] ester (1) and 3-O-[beta-D-xylopyranosyl(1-->3)alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl (1-->2)-beta-D-xylopyranosyl]hederagenin (2), respectively. A novel prosapogenin (3) was obtained on the alkaline hydrolysis of 1 and its structure defined as 3-O-[beta-D-glucopyranosyl (1-->4)-beta-D-glucopyranosyl(1-->3)-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosy (1-->2)-beta-D-xylopyranosyl]hederagenin. The structures of compounds 1-3 were established by spectral and chemical methods. | en_US |
