SUMMRRY In this study, the f undemental aspects for* the irri gation of maize has been investigated. Soil and cilimate requirements, growing period, wa ter-yield relationships and a detailed investigation on maize irrigation has been reviewed respect i vely. Then, according to these information, an irrigation schedule for the maize in Bornova clirnatical conditions were prepared. According to the irrigation schedule, in Bornova con ditions seasonal net and gross water requirements of maize has been determined 636.1 mm. and 978.6 mm. respectively. It has been also determined that 9 applications of irrigation will be enough for optimum yield and quality.
