58 - SUMMARY In this research, different types of greenhouses in and around Izmir and currently used heating systems have been examined and emphasis was given on necessary measures to be taken to overcome deficiencies existed in implementation. In addition to that a research aiming at the alternative energy resources systems had been carried out and the effects of systems on greenhouses growing had been examined and heating systmes had been subjected to economical analysis. Research field is suitable for greenhouses growing because of it's climate conditions. No heating has been carried out in plastic greenhouses of vegetable growing. In glass greenhouses where flowers are grown heating has been done but to the great extent it has been insufficient. Necessary heating calculations had been completed in accordance with the heating values obtained at Bademler Village greenhouses which are centrally heated. It is noted that utilising geothermal energy located at Seferihisar, Cuma- li District for greenhouses would have economical benefits. Greenhouses owners running family-type greenhouses and subject to this research are enxious to get the cheapest way of heating. Most of the greenhouses require no heating. However, they have been shifting to f lover growing in order to get better income and becoming more concsious on greenhouses heating.59 - If the research projects are carried out to ensure receiving the maximum benefits from Balçova and Seferihisar geothermal resources which are located in Izmir and it's surroundings, the utilizing these resources will obvously be more effective. To put solar energy into action at the greenhouses is a costly operation. More economical methods will have to be developed. To give the necessary importance of consideration for heating systems at the greenhouses which burden great costs and to increase the possible use of alternative energy resources in and around Izmir will lead the development of greenhouses in our Region.
