dc.description.abstractABSTRACT A Compared Study of Turkey and Turkmenistan's Social and Economical Development Between 1918-1938 As a result of the comparison of Turkey and Turkmenistan's social and economical development, despite the major differences found between the countries, it was revealed that there-are similarities as well. In the period studied (1 91 8-1 938) despite the fact that the reforms made in Turkey was a necessity arising out of the country was in, in Turkmenistan the changes were made by applying a pre-prepared doctrine by not considering the present condition, therefore while in Turkey an economical order is being developed which allowed both the private and the state enterprises to function, in Turkmenistan an order which totally refuses ownership and which requires the State ownership to dominate the total economic life is started. Although the changes made in social area in Turkey is based on the establishment of a modern, secular and a national state and a democratic society, in Turkmenistan they give importance to a society based a Atheism and Internationalism. On the other hand, it is striking that these two countries have some similarities in this period's social and economical development; because these activities between 1918-1938 in Turkey and Turkmenistan happened in Turkish and Turkmen societies who have the same national and religious traditions. Similarities in arranging the secular education, culture and law and activities to secure the place of women in society also call our attention.en_US
