Proje tabanlı öğrenme ile içerik ve dil entegreli öğretimi birlikte uygulayan bir ingilizce öğretim programının incelenmesi

Özet
Bu çalışma ile ilkokul düzeyinde yabancı dil öğretiminde İçerik ve Dil Entegreli Öğretim (İDEÖ?CLIL - Content and Language Integrated Learning?) ve Proje Tabanlı Öğrenme (PTÖ) yaklaşımlarının harmanlanarak uygulandığı bir İngilizce Öğretim Programı, çeşitli açılardan ele alınarak programın işleyişine dair incelemeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Alanyazın incelendiğinde Türkiye'de ilköğretim düzeyinde hem içerik ve dil entegreli hem de proje tabanlı öğrenmeyi uygulayan okullar üzerinde yapılan herhangi bir çalışmaya rastlanmamıştır. Bununla birlikte yapılandırmacı ve yenilikçi yaklaşımlardan en az ikisini bir arada uygulayan ilkokul sayısı da azdır. Bu araştırma ile Türkiye'de proje tabanlı öğrenme ve son yıllarda da alanyazında sıkça karşılaşılan yabancı dil öğretiminde CLIL yönteminin birbirleriyle uyumu gözlenmiş ve yürütülmekte olan İngilizce öğretim programına dair öğretmen, öğrenci, yönetici ve velilerin görüşleri alınmıştır. Yapılan incelemeler sonucunda, İngilizce öğretiminde programın; hedef, içerik ve öğrenme-öğretme süreçlerinde CLIL ve PTÖ uygulamalarına yer verildiği ve doğru şekilde uygulanması konusunda çaba sarf edildiği gözlenmiştir. Programın çıktılarını daha net bir şekilde görebilmeye olanak sağlayan ölçme ve değerlendirme basamağında ise bazı eksikliklere rastlanmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular sonunda, İngilizce derslerinde projeye uygun içerik öğretiminin uygulanmaya çalışıldığı ve bu durumun dördüncü sınıf düzeyinde olumlu işlediği sonucuna varılmıştır. Tüm bunların ışığında, Türkiye'de ilkokul kademesinde bu iki yöntemi birlikte temele alan bir programın daha önce uygulanmamış olmasından dolayı alanyazına katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir. Bu sayede, yabancı dil öğretiminde İngilizce özelinde sunulan yeni birleştirilmiş yaklaşımların ilkokul kademesindeki İngilizce program uygulamalarına katkılar sağlaması hedeflenmektedir.
In this research, an English Language Teaching Program in which CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) and PBL (Project Based Learning) were applied in foreign language teaching at the primary school level was examined from various perspectives and various analyzes were carried out on the functioning of the program. When the literature was examined, no studies were found on schools that implemented both content and language integrated and project-based learning at the primary education level in Turkey. However, the number of primary schools that apply at least two of the constructivist and innovative approaches together is low. With this research, the compatibility of project-based learning in Turkey and the CLIL method in foreign language teaching, which has been frequently encountered in the literature in recent years, was observed and the opinions of teachers, students, administrators, program designers and parents were received about the English teaching program being carried out. As a result of the examinations, it was determined that the program in teaching English; It has been observed that CLIL and PBL practices are included in the elements of target, content and learning-teaching processes and that efforts are made to implement them correctly. Deficiencies were found in the measurement and evaluation step, which is another element that allows the program's outputs to be seen more clearly. As a result of the findings, it was concluded that content teaching based on the proper project subjects was tried to be implemented in English language teaching and this implementation worked well at the fourth grade level. In light of all the findings, it is thought that it will contribute to the literature since a curriculum based on these two methods together has not been implemented before in the primary school level in Turkey. In this way, it is aimed that the new integrated approaches offered specifically for English in foreign language teaching will also contribute to English curriculum applications at the primary school level.
