Özet
The knowledge of the existence of lipid islands in gastric mucosa is of some diagnostic value, since the lesions may be mistaken for superficial gastric cancer gastroscopically as well as histologically. Four cases of gastric xanthoma, which was discovered endoscopically and confirmed pathologically following biopsy are presented. Increased awareness by the endoscopist and pathologist may reveal a higher incidence of this condition and permit improved evaluation of its clinical and pathological significance.
