Bulgular: Girişim grubu %85 'i, kontrol grubu çocukların %90'nın üç kezden fazla hastanede yattığı, girişim grubunun %25'ine, kontrol grubunun %10'na sağlık çalışannı tarafından lomber ponksiyon öncesi çocuklara bilgilendirme yapıldığı belirlenmiştir.Daha önce işlem hakkında bilgilendirme yapılan çocukların bilgi yeterlilik oranlarına bakıldığında girişim grubundaki çocukların %100' ü, kontrol grubundaki çocukların %95'i yapılan bilgilendirmeyi yetersiz bulmuştur. Girişim grubuna dahil edilen çocuklarda işlem öncesi korku puanlarının işlem sonrasına göre azalırken(p?0.05), kontrol grubuna dahil edilen çocuklarda işlem öncesi korku puanlarının işlem sonrasına göre arttığı saptanmıştır (p?0.05). Girişim grubuna dahil edilen çocuklarda işlem öncesi anksiyete puanları işlem sonrasına göre azalırken(p?0.05), kontrol grubuna dahil edilen çocuklarda işlem öncesi anksiyete puanlarının işlem sonrasına göre arttığı tespit edilmiştir (p?0.05). Lomber ponksiyon işlemi öncesinde oyuncak bebek ve muayene malzemeleri kullanılarak uygulanan terapötik oyunun çocukların korku ve anksiyete anlamlı biçimde azalttığı tespit edilmiştir(p?0.05). Sonuç: Yapılan analizler sonucunda lomber ponksiyon öncesinde oyuncak bebek ve muayene malzemeleri kullanılarak uygulanan terapötik oyunun çocukların korku ve anksiyete düzeylerini anlamlı biçimde azaltmada etkili olduğu bulunmuştur. The Effect of Therapeutic Play Applied Before Lumbar Puncture on the Anxiety and Fear Levels of Children with Leukemia Introduction: Prolonged hospitalization of the child for leukemia treatment, exposure to intensive treatment, invasive interventions and severe medical procedures cause symptoms such as fear, anxiety, grief and withdrawal. Therapeutic play is one of the methods to minimize the emergence of psychosocial symptoms such as fear and anxiety. Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the effect of therapeutic play applied before lumbar puncture procedure on anxiety and fear levels of children with leukaemia. Method: The population of the randomized controlled experimental study consisted of children between the ages of 6 and 12 who were hospitalized in the hematology service between April 2023 and February 2024 with a diagnosis of leukemia. Forty children who met the inclusion criteria and volunteered to participate in the study were included in the sample. Children in the intervention group were trained by the nurse with therapeutic play before lumbar puncture. Sociodemographic Data Form, Child Fear Scale (CFS) and Child Anxiety Scale-Disposition (CAS-D) were used to collect the data. Results: It was determined that 85% of the children in the intervention group and 90% of the children in the control group had been hospitalized more than three times, and 25% of the intervention group and 10% of the control group were informed by the healthcare professionals before lumbar puncture. When the information adequacy rates of the children who were previously informed about the procedure were analyzed, 100% of the children in the intervention group and 95% of the children in the control group found the information inadequate. While the pre-procedure fear scores of the children in the intervention group decreased compared to the post-procedure (p?0.05), the pre-procedure fear scores of the children in the control group increased compared to the post-procedure (p?0.05). While pre-procedure anxiety scores decreased in children in the intervention group compared to post-procedure (p?0.05), pre-procedure anxiety scores increased in children in the control group compared to post-procedure (p?0.05). It was found that therapeutic play using dolls and examination materials significantly reduced children's fear and anxiety before the lumbar puncture procedure (p?0.05). Conclusion: As a result of the analyses, it was found that therapeutic play using dolls and examination materials before lumbar puncture was an effective method to significantly reduce children's fear and anxiety levels.
