| dc.description.abstract | Bu doktora tezi, “turizm coğrafyası” alanında hazırlanmıştır. Tez konusu; turizmin doğal, kırsal ve kentsel mekânlar üzerindeki etkileridir. Tez alanı, İzmir’in Foça, Dikili ve Bergama ilçeleridir. Bu üç ilçe, günümüzde birer turizm destinasyonu haline gelmişler, o nedenle de turizmin etkilerini yaşamaktadırlar. Bu etkilerin önemli bir kısmı mekânsal değişimler olarak üç destinasyonda da karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Bu sonuç, karşılaştırmalı analiz yapmayı gerekli kılmıştır. Bu nedenle tezin tasarımında iki tür karşılaştırmaya gidilmiştir. Birincisi, her destinasyonda turizmin gelişimini dönemsel olarak karşılaştırmaktır. İkincisi, turizmin mekânsal etkilerini destinasyonlar arası karşılaştırmaktır. Ayrıca Foça, Dikili ve Bergama’da sözlü görüşmeler yapılarak katılımcıların mekânsal etkiler konusundaki görüşleri alınmıştır. Tezin amacı; tez konusu, tez alanı ve araştırmada varılmak istenen sonuç açısından üç boyutludur. Tez konusunun seçiliş amacı, turizm ve coğrafyanın arakesitindeki mekânsal etkilerin günümüzde çok önemli bir araştırma alanı haline gelmesidir. Tez alanı olarak Foça, Dikili ve Bergama’nın seçilmesinin amacı; daha önce üçünü bir arada inceleyen başka bir turizm coğrafyası tezinin olmamasıdır. Tezin nihai amacı ise; turistik tesislerin ve ikinci konutların kıyı turizmi (Foça ve Dikili) ve kültür turizminde (Bergama) hangi tür mekânsal etkileri olduğunu ortaya koymaktır. Tezde nitel araştırma yöntemi izlenmiş, coğrafi alan araştırması ve haritalama; örnek olay araştırması; karşılaştırmalar ve sözlü görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Tezin bulgularında şunlar öne çıkmıştır; iki kıyı turizmi destinasyonu olan Foça ve Dikili’de turizmin gelişmesinde rol oynayan doğal faktörler benzer olsa da mekânsal etkilerin derecesi ve alansal genişliği farklıdır. Bir kültür turizmi destinasyonu olan Bergama’da ise turizmin olumsuz mekânsal etkileri daha sınırlıdır, daha çok kenti geliştirici etkileri vardır. Bulgulardan elde edilen sonuçlara göre; kıyı turizminin kitlesel karakteri, kıyılarda ve turistik kentsel mekânlarda hızlı ve dönüştürücü değişimler yaratmaktadır. O nedenle yerel kimliğin korunması isteniyorsa koruma kurallarına uyulmalıdır. Bu konuda yerel yönetim, turizm aktörleri ve STK ile üst ölçekteki kamu kurumlarının önemli rolleri vardır. Kültür turizmi, bir kentsel destinasyonda kontrollü biçimde yönetildiği zaman turizmin yıkıcı mekânsal etkileri daha az görülebilir. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | This doctoral dissertation was prepared in the field of “tourism geography”. The thesis subject is the effects of tourism on natural, rural and urban spaces. The field of dissertation is Foça, Dikili and Bergama districts of İzmir. The districts have turned to tourism destinations; therefore, they have been experiencing the effects of tourism. Majority of these effects occur in the destinations as spatial changes. This result necessitated the comparative analysis. For this reason, two types of comparison have been made in the design of the study. The former is to compare the development of tourism in each destination periodically. The latter is to compare the spatial effects of tourism across destinations. In addition, qualitative research was held in Foça, Dikili and Bergama to get the opinions of the participants on spatial effects. The aim of the study is three-dimensional in terms of the thesis subject, thesis area and the result in the research. The purpose of choosing the topic is that the spatial effects in the cross section of tourism and geography have become one of the crucial research topics recently. Foça, Dikili and Bergama has been chosen as a field study by reason of the fact that there is no other tourism geography thesis that has previously examined all three together. The final aim of the study is to reveal the spatial effects of touristic facilities and second homes on coastal tourism (Foça and Dikili) and cultural tourism (Bergama). Qualitative research method, geographical area research and mapping, comparisons were followed in the study. Although the natural factors that play a role in the development of tourism in Foça and Dikili are similar, the degree and scope of spatial effects are different. In Bergama as a cultural tourism destination, tourism have limited negative spatial effects but rather has a city-enhancing effect. According to the results obtained from the findings, the mass character of coastal tourism creates rapid and transformative changes in coastal and touristic urban areas. Therefore, if the protection of local identity is desired, protection rules should be followed. Local governments, tourism actors, nongovernmental organizations and higher-scale public institutions have important roles in this regard. When cultural tourism is managed in a controlled manner in an urban destination, destructive spatial effects of tourism are less visible. | en_US |
