Özet
Sağ hemisfer hasarının bir sekeli olan bir tarafı ihmal etme, inmeyi takiben hastalarda görülen yaygın bir davranışsal sendromdur. Temelde duyusal veya motor hasar olmadığı durumlarda bile, ihmali olan hastalar beyin lezyonunun karşı tarafındaki uyaranları fark etme, oryante olma, tanıma veya onlara yanıt vermede başarısız olurlar. İhmali olan hastada hemşire yalnızca fiziksel semptomların gelişimini değil, aynı zamanda bilişsel işlev bozukluğunu da dikkate almalıdır. Hastanın günlük yaşamına ilişkin hemşirelik yönetimi, fiziksel semptom yönetimini ve bilişsel işlevlerin değerlendirilmesini bütünleştirmelidir.
Unilateral neglect, a frequent sequel of right-hemisphere damage, is a common behavioral syndrome in patients following stroke. Patients suffering from neglect may fail to detect, orient to, acknowledge or respond to stimuli on their contralesional side, even in the absence of primary sensory or motor loss. Nurse should consider not only the physical symptom’s manifestation, but also the cognitive dysfunction in patients with neglect. Nursing management related to patient daily living, should incorporate physical symptom management and assessment of cognitive function.
