Bir öğrenci bilgi sisteminin göz izleme yöntemi kullanılarak değerlendirilmesi ve rekabetçi kullanılabilirlik testlerinin uygulanması

Son yıllardaki teknolojik gelişmelerin sonucunda insanların kullandıkları yazılım sistemleri artış göstermiş ve çeşitlilik kazanmıştır. Bu durum, kullanılabilir sistemlerin geliştirilmesi gerekliliğini ortaya çıkarmıştır. Uzmanlar çeşitli kullanılabilirlik değerlendirme yöntemlerini kullanarak, sistemlerin kullanılabilirliklerini incelemektedirler. Değerlendirme yöntemlerinden göz izleme yöntemi, değerlendirilen sistemlerin görsel arayüzleri üzerinde hangi noktalara ne kadar süreyle bakıldığının ortaya çıkarılması ve bunun sonucunda arayüzün uygunluğunun belirlenmesi amacıyla kullanılmaktadır. Bu tez çalışması kapsamında, bir öğrenci bilgi sisteminin (ÖBS) kullanılabilirliği göz izleme yöntemi kullanılarak değerlendirilmiştir. Değerlendirme sonucunda sistemin sahip olduğu kullanılabilirlik sorunları dikkate alınarak öğrenci bilgi sistemi için farklı bir arayüz geliştirilmiştir. Tasarım olarak önerilen bu sistemin kullanılabilirliği de göz izleme yöntemiyle değerlendirilmiştir. Rekabetçi kullanılabilirlik testleri yapılarak ilk sistemin sonuçları geliştirilen sisteminki ile karşılaştırılmıştır. Karşılaştırma sonuçları, geliştirilen sistemin tasarımının; görev tamamlama süresi, ilk duraklamaya kadar geçen süre, duraklama sayısı ve duraklama süresi ölçütlerine göre daha kullanılabilir olduğunu göstermektedir.

As a result of the technological developments in recent years, the software systems used by people have increased and diversified. This situation has created the need to develop usable systems. Experts examine the usability of systems using various usability evaluation methods. The method of eye tracking from evaluation methods is used for discovering which points on the user interface are stared at and for how long, so as to determine the appropriateness of the interface. In the context of this thesis study, the usability of a student information system (SIS) has been evaluated using eye tracking method. As a result of the evaluation, a different interface was developed for the student information system considering the usability problem that the system has. The usability of this system, which is proposed as a design, was also evaluated by eye tracking method. Competitive usability evaluation was conducted and the results of the first system were compared with those of the developed system. The comparison results show that the design of the developed system is more usable than the first system in terms of task completion time, time to first fixation on-target, number of fixations, and fixation duration.
