In this study, the development and growth performance of juvenile sea bream (Sparus aurata) fed with probiotic supplemented diets were investigated. The study was carried out in triplicate and there were 2 different groups. In the experimental group, 1 ml.kg-1 probiotic was added to the feed by spraying method. No probiotic was added to the control group. When the data obtained at the end of the study were analyzed, the weight of the fish in the experimental group was 32.48±5.79 g, total length was 12.45±0.68 cm, specific growth rate was 4.35%/day, survival rate was 65.9% and feed conversion ratio was 1.84. In the control group, weight was 26.16±5.71 g, total length was 11.62±0.72 cm, specific growth rate was 3.98%/day, survival rate was 71% and feed conversion ratio was 2.02. When the growth performances were examined, statistically significant differences were found between the probiotic treated group and the control group in terms of total length, weight and feed conversion ratio (p<0.05), while the differences between the experimental groups in terms of specific growth and survival rates were statistically insignificant (p>0.05). On the other hand, when the total protease enzyme data were analyzed at the end of the study, values of 4.8 U/mg protein-1 in the control group and 5.6 U/mg protein-1 in the probiotic group were determined and the statistical difference between the two groups was found to be significant (p<0.05). In the light of these data, it is concluded that using of probiotic has a positive effect on the development and growth performance of sea bream juveniles.
