Özet
Bu yazıda, Comte'un pozitivist sosyoloji anlayışı ile toplum teorisi arasındaki bağlantı üzerinde durulacaktır. Comte'un sosyolojisi sadece toplum hakkında bir doğabilimi değildir; o aynı zamanda toplum hakkında politik bir projedir. Sosyolojiye doğabilimsel bir statü atfedilen Comte'un pozitif felsefesine göre, sosyoloji, metafizik ve teolojik düşünme biçimleriyle olan bağını koparmalı; tüm bilimsel iddialarını empirik bir temele dayandırmak ve diğer bilimlerde olduğu gibi, kendine özgü bir 'yasa bilgisi'ne sahip olmalıdır. Sosyoloji, Comte'a. göre, toplumda moral düzenin kurulmasına katkıda bulunacak; sosyologlar tarafından üretilen bilimsel bilgi, tıpkı fizik biliminin fizik dünyanın düzenlenmesinde kullanılması gibi, sosyal reformlara yönelik projelerde de kullanılabilecektir. Doğa üzerindeki kontrol, 'sosyal mühendislik' yoluyla, insan ve toplum üzerinde de kontrol kurulmasına dek genişletilecektir.
In this article, the connection between Comte's understanding of positivist sociology and social theory will be discussed. Comte's sociology is not only a science about society but also a political project about society. According to the positivist philosophy of Comte in which sociology was given a scientific status, sociology should break its bonds with metaphysics and theological way of thinking; should ground all its scientific claims on empirical basis and as in other sciences, should possess a "law knowledge" of its own. According to Comte, sociology will help to establish a moral order in the society and the scientific information produced by sociologists -just like physics was used to organize the physical world- would be used in projects for social reforms. Through "social engineering", the control over nature will be extended for establishing control over human and society as well.
