The main purpose of the study was to investigate the link between adult insecure attachment styles, obsessive belief domains and ruminative thinking style on romantic relationship centered obsessive compulsive symptoms. In line with another aim of the study, the mediating roles of general obsessive belief level and ruminative thinking style in the relationship between adult insecure attachment styles and romantic relationship-oriented obsessive-compulsive symptoms were investigated. The data of the study were obtained from total 770 participants (508 females, 262 males) between the ages of 18 to 63 (M: 30.50, SD = 9.81) who had been in a romantic relationship for at least 3 months. Within the scope of the study, the participants were asked to complete the data set consisting of the Socio-demographic Information Form, Experiences in Close Relationships Inventory-II (ECR-II), the Obsessive Beliefs Scale Short Form (OBS-20), the Ruminative Thinking Style Scale (RTS), and the Relationship Obsessive Compulsive Inventory (ROCI). The obtained data were evaluated through t test, correlation, ANOVA, MANOVA, regression and mediation analyzes. As a result of the correlational analyzes, it was observed that there were positive and significant relationships between the main variables of the study. According to the result of the regression analysis, the duration of the romantic relationship, anxious and avoidant attachment styles which constitutes the insecure attachment patterns, the overestimation of threat and perfectionism/precision which are the sub-dimensions of obsessive beliefs, and the ruminative thinking style significantly predicted romantic relationship-centered obsessive-compulsive symptoms. In the model created to examine the mediation relationship, it was found that both the general level of obsessive beliefs and the ruminative thinking style played a significant partial mediation role in the relationship between adult insecure attachment styles (anxious and avoidant attachment) and romantic relationship-centered obsessive-compulsive symptoms. The results of the study were discussed within the framework of the relevant literature.
