Özet
Protestanlığın alt gruplarından biri olan Evanjelizm, bugün Amerika’nın milli
dini statüsünü kazanmış, dini bir yapılanmadır. Kutsal Kitap’ın yanılmazlığına ve
Tanrı’nın sözü olduğuna inanan Evanjelistlerin öğretilerinin temelinde; Hıristiyanlığın
özünü oluşturan İsa Mesih figürü yer almaktadır. İsa Mesih’te bireysel kurtuluşa inanan
bu kesim, yeniden doğuş tecrübesi yaşayarak dini bir dönüşüm geçirilebileceği fikrine
inanmaktadır. Amaçları İncil’i yayarak, tüm dünyanın Evanjelizasyonunu/
Hıristiyanlaştırılmasını sağlamaktır. Tarihin seyrinin, Tanrı’nın planı dâhilinde
gerçekleştiğini savunan Evanjelistler, ahir zamanda Tanrı’nın kendileri için uhrevi bir
planı olduğunu; kutsal metinlere dayandırarak, günümüz şartlarını ve sosyal yapıyı
yeniden şekillendirme eğilimi içerisindedir. Bu bağlamda tezin amacını, Amerika
Birleşik Devletleri’nde muhafazakâr kanadın temsilcilerinden olan teolog Jerry
Falwell’ın, Evanjelist öğretideki yeri ve önemini kavramak oluşturmuştur. Dini lider ve
politik aktivist olarak Jerry Falwell’ın, Evanjelizmin kamu politikalarında görünürlük
kazanmasını sağlaması, beraberinde onun dini söylemlerini detaylandırma ihtiyacını
doğurmuştur. Zira Evanjelizm üzerine yapılan çalışmalarda adının sıkça geçmesi bu
gereksinimi tasdiklemiştir. Bu amaçla Amerika’da Evanjelist tutumun canlanmasında
kilit role sahip olan bu ismin, gelecek dünya tasavvuru üzerine görüşleri ve faaliyetleri
tetkik edilmiştir. Bilhassa İncil müjdesinin temasını oluşturan Tanrı Krallığı olgusunun
Jerry Falwell’ın gelecek tasavvuru ve yaşamındaki yansımalarına yer verilmiştir. Elde
edilen bulgular kutsal metinler ışığında değerlendirilerek, Evanjelist öğretiler
çerçevesinde sunulmuştur. Tezin kapsamını bir inanç sistemi olarak Evanjelizmi tüm
yönleri ile ortaya koymaktan ziyade Jerry Falwell’in, Evanjelist literatürde dünyanın
geleceğine ilişkin teolojik ve teo-politik katkıları oluşturmuştur.
Evangelism, one of the sub-groups of Protestantism, is a religious movement that has gained the status of the national religion of the American state. The basis of the principles of the Evangelists who believe that Scripture is the infallibility and the word of God; the figure of Jesus Christ takes place as the forms of the essence of Christianity. Those people who believe in the possibility of a religious conversion by experiencing a reborn, follows the idea of individual salvation in Jesus Christ. Their aim is to promote the Evangelization of the whole world by spreading the Bible. Evangelists, who defend that the course of history takes place within God's plan, that God has an active plan for them at the end of the world life; it tends to reshape contemporary conditions and social structure by basing them on sacred texts. In this context, the aim of the thesis was to comprehend the place and importance of the theologian Jerry Falwell, who was a representative of the conservative side in the United States, in the Evangelical doctrine. As a religious leader and political activist, Jerry Falwell's need to clarify his religious discourses led to the need for Evangelism to be seen in public policies. Because the name passed frequently in the studies on evangelism, this requirement was confirmed. For this purpose, his name, which has a key role in the revival of the Evangelist attitude in America, has been examined on the future vision of the world. The phenomenon of the Kingdom of God, especially the theme of the gospel, is reflected in Jerry Falwell's future vision and reflections in his life. The findings are evaluated in the light of the sacred texts and presented within the framework of the Evangelical teachings. The scope of the dissertation, rather than revealing all aspects of Evangelicalism as a system of belief, was based on Jerry Falwell's theological and teo-political contributions to the future of the world in the Evangelical literature.
