Keten bitkisinden keten lifi elde etmede ilk adım, retting işlemi olarak adlandırılmakta olup bu işlem hem öz tabaka ve epidermis arasında bulunan sak liflerini ve hem de liflerin her birini birbirinden ayırmaktadır. Suda havuzlama, çiğde havuzlama vb. metotların dezavantajları sebebiyle, keten lifi elde etmede kontrollü proses ve iyi kalitede lif üretmek üzere enzimatik bir işlem geliştirilmiştir. Bu yazıda keten saklarından enzimatik işlemle keten lifi elde etme hakkında genel açıklama yapılmaktadır.

Due to the disadvantages of other methods such as water retting, dew retting, etc., an enzymatic retting system is developed to control the retting process and produce fibers of consistent quality. This article is an overview of enzymatic retting of flax stems.
