Galium species are members of the Rubiaceae family and are represented by 101 species in 10 divisions in Turkey. These species are called "Yoghurt Herb" in Turkish because they contain an enzyme that can be used in yogurt fermentation. Galium species are rich in iridoid glycosides and anthraquinones, as well as flavonoids, naphthalenes, lignans, saponins and phenolic acids. Many biological activity studies on these species have revealed that Galium species have important biological activities such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and cytotoxic activities. In this thesis, the determination of the phytochemical components of Galium asparagifolium, which has not been extensively researched in terms of pharmacognosy, and the investigation of its biological activities are included. In our study, n-butanol extract prepared from the total extract was examined by chromatographic methods (CC, TLC, VLC, MPLC, HPLC), and single and pure compounds were obtained. A total of eleven compounds were isolated from the aerial parts of Galium asparagifolium. The presence in nature of one of the compounds obtained according to our literature findings was reported for the first time in this thesis study. Nine compounds with iridoid and flavonoid aglycones are compounds that have been previously isolated from different sources and their structures have been elucidated. In addition, a carbohydrate-derived compound was isolated and its structure was elucidated. The structures of the compounds were defined with the modern spectroscopic methods (1D-, 2D-NMR, HR-MS). Deacetilasperuloside, Scandoside methyl ester (6?-hydroxygeniposide), Asperulosidic acid methyl ester (Daphylloside), Acetylscandoside, Scandozide, Aucubin, Asperuloside, Rutoside, Narcissoside and a carbohydrate derivative are substances that are known to exist in different sources and are the subject of the thesis, G. asparagifolium, reported for the first time in this study. In addition, a new compound for nature called Galiumic acid was isolated and its structure was determined. Within the scope of biological activity studies, in vitro cytotoxic, antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of three different extracts prepared from the aerial parts of the plant were investigated. Biological activity studies on extracts and isolated components prepared from Galium asparagifolium plant were carried out for the first time in this thesis study.
