    Analysis of Emotional Intelligence and Personality Traits of Students in Faculty of Sports Sciences

    This study it was aimed to examine the emotional intelligence and personality traits of the students who study in different departments of the Faculty of Sport Sciences at Ege University and actively do sports in different sports branches. in total 549 students participated in the study voluntarily. To evaluate the variables of the study, the Schutte Emotional Intelligence Scale developed by Schutte et al. (1998) and adapted into Turkish by Tatar et al. (2011), and to evaluate personality traits, five-factor personality inventory developed by Somer, Tatar, and Korkmaz (2004) and whose short form was validated and reliable by Tatar (2005) were used. in this study, the data set was SPSS 22.0, and it was completed by using frequency tables, reliability analysis, independent sample t-test, one-way variance analysis, Tukey test, and correlation analysis in analyzes. There is both a significant (p<0.05) and an insignificant (p>0.05) difference between emotional intelligence and subscales of personality according to the department, type of education, average grade, class, gender, age and branches. There is no significant difference between emotional intelligence and personality (p> 0.05). They are independent of each other. As a result, as the concepts of emotional intelligence and personality affect individuals deeply, the main purpose of this study is to find the necessary information with the necessary studies to better understand the students in the sports science faculty. This study is to measure the emotional intelligence and personality traits of the students studying at the Faculty of Sport Sciences at Ege University and to examine the relationship between emotional intelligence and personality. We think that it is an important study as it will make a serious contribution to the studies by repeating similar studies and applying them to large sample groups in different fields in different universities and different branches.

    Beden eğitimi derslerinde başarı notu değerlendirmesi üzerine bir yaklaşım

    ÖZET Bu çalışmanın amacı; beden eğitimi öğretmenleri tarafından, beden eğitimi derslerinde gerçekleştirilen değerlendirme kriterlerini ortaya çıkarabilmek ve bu konu ile olarak yeni değerlendirme sistemleri ortaya koymaktır. Çalışmada kullanılan anket; konuyla ilgili uzmanlar tarafından oluşturulmuştur. Beden Eğitimi Öğretmenleri değerlendirmelerinde uygulama yönetemini tercih etmektedirler. Sözlü sınav ve yazılı sınav yöntemi tercih edilmemektedir. Beden eğitimi öğretmenleri yazılı ödevleri değerlendirmelerinde kullanmamaktadırlar. Öğrencilerin devam durumu, arkadaşları ile ilişkileri, okul içi ve okul dışmda gösterdikleri sportif performans ve malzeme kullanımları, öğrencilerin beden eğitimi derslerindeki başarılarını etkilemektedir. Beden Eğitimi Öğretmenlerin %40.1'i sınav yönetmeliğini yetersiz bulmaktadır. Öğretmenler değerlendirme becerilerinin hem malzeme yetersizliğinden hem de öğrenci sayısının fazlalığından etkilendiğini düşünmektedirler. Beden Eğitimi Öğretmenlerinin %58.1'i öğrencinin beden eğitimi sınavlarından başarısız olduğu durumlarda spordan uzaklaşacağı görüşüne katıldığım belirtmiştir. Değerlendirme sonucunda bir davranış değişikliği oluşması, motorsal becerilerin geliştirilmesi gerekliliği öğretmenler tarafından belirtilmiştir. Değerlendirmede işbirlikçi yaklaşımın kullanılması, grup çalışmalarına yer verilmesi, sonuçların aile ve yöneticiler ile paylaşılması gerektiği belirtilmiştir. Önerilecek testlerin pratik olması, sprint, dayanıklılık, çabuk kuvvet, koordinatif yetiler ve psikolojik gelişmeleri ölçmesi gerekliliği belirtilmiştir. Bu düşünceler doğrultusunda yurtiçi ve yurtdışından değişik değerlendirme örnekleri çalışmanın içerisinde örnek olarak verilmiştir. 89

    beta-endorphin level and lactate elimination: effects on the shot and sprint performances in amateur soccer players

    Study Objectives: This study aimed to examine the effects of lactate elimination and saliva -endorphin (beta-End) levels on the decrease in shot and sprint performances in the last period of a soccer match, and changes in saliva cortisol and testosterone levels during the match and their relationship to performance parameters. Methods: Twenty-two trained amateur soccer players performed the 90 minutes soccer match, while saliva beta-End, testosterone, cortisol, blood lactate, and glucose measurements were obtained pre-match (M1), after 1st half (M2), and after the 2nd half (M3). Sprint and shot performances were assessed after warm-up and match play and after the Yo-Yo intermittent recovery test level 1 (Yo-Yo IR-1) test. Lactate elimination was evaluated with the Yo-Yo IR-1. Results: Soccer match-play elevated some individual beta-End levels between M1 and M3 (an increase of %25) but overall differences between M1, M2, and M3 were not significant (963.34 increase from M1 to M2, 961.12 increase from M1 to M3, and 962.17 decrease from M2 to M3). M3 testosterone levels significantly increased above basal (p < 0.01) and M2 levels (p < 0.001). Moreover, 13-End levels and lactate elimination speeds were not significantly correlated with sprint and shot performance at M3 (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Our results suggest that beta-End and lactate elimination is not effective on the differences in shot and sprint performances after exercise. Therefore, future studies will appropriate for the examination of beta-End and other hormone levels to understand the exact mechanisms involved in different levels of soccer players.

    THE EFFECT OF COOPERATIVE TEACHING METHOD USED IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SPORTS LESSONS ON INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY AND LEADERSHIP

    The aim of this study was to examine the effect of the collaborative teaching method used in physical education and sports lessons on the development of students' leadership characteristics and individual responsibility values. In the research, a quasi-experimental model with a pre-test/post-test control group was used. The sample of the study consists of a control group of 30 participats and an experimental group of 28 participats studying at Altay Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in Izmir province. Youth Leadership Characteristics Scale and Individual Responsibility Scale were applied to the participants as pre-test and post-test, respectively. Physical education and sports lessons for 8 weeks were taught by collaborative teaching method in the experimental group and according to the normal curriculum in the control group. Data were analyzed with the SPSS software. As a result of the analyzes, it was found that the score of all participants from the individual responsibility scale increased, but this increase did not make a significant difference between the groups.

    The effect of social skills training program on the social skills perceptions of sports students

    The aim of this research is to reveal whether the social skills training program has an effect on the research of social skills levels of students participating in the social skills training program and studying sports. The study group of the research consists of a total of 30 students, 5 female and 25 male, actively studying at Manisa Celal Bayar University in 2019-2020. In this study, socio-demographic information form and a social skill scale developed by Tatar et al. (2018) were used as data collection tools for adults. In the implementation phase of the study, the social skills training program was applied to 15 students, who were determined as the experimental group, for 9 sessions for 9 weeks, once a week for 1.5-2 hours. The data of this study were analyzed with SPSS program version 22.0. In the analysis of the data, the t-test was applied for the comparison results of the number percentage distributions of independent variables, descriptive statistics for dependent variables, reliability and item analysis of the scales, the mean of the two independent variables of the group and the total scores of the two measurements made at different times, and the t-test was applied to determine the difference between the mean scores of the groups. It was found that there was a significant difference between the pre-test score distributions and post-test score distributions of the experimental group receiving social skills training, but there was no significant difference between the pretest score distributions and post-test scores of the experimental group and the control group. In the 3rd and 6th month score distributions conducted for monitoring process, it was observed that the effect of the social skills training program continued. It was found that there was no difference between the post-test scores of the experimental and control groups of the students studying sports in social skills training.

    Evaluation of Achievement Goals According to Life Satisfaction Levels: a Study on Young Football Players

    The aim of this study is to determine whether the achievement goals of young football players differ according to their life satisfaction levels. 306 football players in Turkey's Professional Leagues and in Izmir province were included in the study. Personal information form, Life Satisfaction Scale (Yetim, 1991) and 2x2 Achievement Goals in Sports Inventory (Kazak cetinkalp, 2009) were applied to the participants, respectively. Descriptive statistics, classification analysis and t -test for independent groups were used in the statistical analysis of the data. Young football players' life satisfaction scores and athletes with low and high life satisfaction were determined by the K-averages classification method. Then, the two determined groups were compared in terms of their target orientation. When football players with low life satisfaction and football players with high level of life satisfaction were compared, no significant difference was observed in terms of mastery-approach and mastery-avoidance goals, while there were statistically significant differences in performance-approach and performance avoidance goals and the performance-approach and performance avoidance scores of the players with high life satisfaction were higher than the players with low life satisfaction. As a result, performance-approach and performance avoidance goals are goals that mean trying to do better than other individuals and not to be worse than other individuals.

    Examining the Factors Affecting the Selection of the Recreation Activity Type of University Students

    This research was conducted to determine the recreational activity choices of the students studying at various faculties of the university. The main purpose of this study is to determine the factors that affect the selection of recreational activity of university students. A total of 156 students, 98 female and 58 male, studying at various faculties in Izmir Universities, participated in the survey. As the data collection tool, Personal Information Form and the scale made by Arslan (2010 and 2012) to measure the factors affecting the selection of the recreational activity type were used. The data obtained were analyzed by using the SPSS 23 program. T-test, ANOVA and Tukey post hoc tests were used to obtain statistical results. Guidance sub-dimension mean score values and general scale mean score values were higher in women than men (p<0.05). Personal suitability and environment sub-dimension mean score values of individuals with an income of 1000 TL and below are higher than individuals with higher income (p<0.05). A significant difference was observed only in the mean scores of the guidance sub-dimension according to the educational background of the mothers of the individuals (p<0.05). When the mean score values of personal suitability, guidance sub-dimension and general scale were examined, it was concluded that the mean score values of individuals whose fathers are primary and high school graduates were higher than those whose fathers were bachelor and master graduates (p<0.05). Mean scores of personal suitability, environment sub-dimensions and general scale were higher in individuals whose family with an income of 1001 - 2000 TL per month, that is, the lowest income group (p<0.05). When we look at the guidance, environment sub-dimensions and the general scale, it was concluded that the mean score values of individuals who think that games are a little effective in activities are higher than the mean score values of individuals who think that games in activities are very effective (p<0.05). The opinions of the individuals about in which faculty the recreation department should be do not make a difference on the mean score values of the general scale and its sub-dimensions. According to the type of recreational activity that individuals do in their leisure time, the mean score values of the general scale and its sub-dimensions do not show a significant difference (p>0.05). As a result of the findings, when the factors that affect the selection of the recreational activity type of the students were examined, it was found that the highest factor was age-appropriateness. The statement with the lowest mean in the scale is healthy life programs on TV. In addition, it was concluded that the most effective factors in individuals' choices on the recreational activities were that the activities were personally suitable for them and the environment was also suitable.

    EXAMINING THE MULTICULTURAL COMPETENCE PERCEPTIONS OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHERS

    In this study, the multicultural competence levels of physical education teachers were examined according to various variables. The study group of the research consists of 217 physical education teachers working in the official primary and secondary schools in Izmir in the academic year of 2020-2021. 42.4% of the teachers in the study group are female (n=92), 57.6% of them are male (n=125). In collecting data, Multicultural Competence Perceptions Scale and Personal Information Form developed by Basbay and Kagnici (2011) for instructors were used. Parametric tests used in the statistics of data; independent groups t-test was used for two groups and one-way analysis of variance was used for groups more than two (p<0.05). Results shows that the score values that the teachers obtained from the total and sub-dimensions show that they perceive themselves as sufficient in multiculturalism. The awareness level of teachers working in secondary school (X=65.79) was higher than teachers working in primary school (<(X)over bar> =61.90) (p<0.012).

    Farklı Sportif Etkinliklerin İlköğretim 2. Kademe Öğrencilerinin Beden Eğitimi Dersine Yönelik Tutum, Sosyal Beceri ve Öz yeterlik Düzeylerine Etkileri

    Bu araştırmanın amacı, ilköğretim eğitim-öğretim müfredatında yer alan beden eğitimi ders programlarına ilave olarak uygulanacak farklı sportif etkinliklerin, öğrencilerin sosyal beceri, beden eğitimi dersine yönelik tutum ve öz yeterlik düzeyleri üzerine etkilerinin belirlenmesidir. Çalışmanın örneklem grubunu; ilköğretimin 2. Kademesinin 8.sınıfında okuyan 40 öğrenci( erkek:20, kadın:20) oluşturmuştur. Veri toplama aracı olarak; Zekai Pehlivan (1998) tarafından geliştirilen "Beden Eğitimi Dersine Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği", J.L.Matson ve arkadaşları (1983)tarafından geliştirilen "Matson Çocuklarda Sosyal Becerileri Değerlendirme Ölçeği" ve Ralf Schwarzer ve arkadaşları tarafından (1979) geliştirilen "Genel Öz yeterlik Ölçeği" kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada kullanılacak ölçekler, ön test ve son test olarak katılımcılara uygulanmıştır. Örneklem grubu iki gruba ayrılmıştır. Birinci grup (kontrol grubu), çalışma sürecinde sadece normal eğitim-öğretim müfredatında yer alan beden eğitimi derslerine katılmıştır. İkinci grup (deney grubu) ise beden eğitimi derslerine ilave olarak uzmanlar tarafından uygulaması yapılan ve haftada 2 gün ( 4 saat) gerçekleştirilen farklı sportif etkinliklere (atletizm, eğitsel oyunlar, hareket eğitimi, dans eğitimi vb.) katılmıştır. Bu eğitimler, uzmanlar tarafından komut ve alıştırma stili uygulanarak 10 hafta boyunca gerçekleştirilmiştir. Verilerin istatistiksel analizi ve değerlendirilmesi sırasında Man Whitney U ve Wilcoxon Sign Rank testleri uygulandı. Örneklem grubunun ilk test ortalamalarının, cinsiyet değişkenine göre beden eğitimi dersine yönelik tutum, sosyal beceriler ve özgüven düzeyleri arasında fark olup olmadığı incelendiğinde, olumlu sosyal beceriler ve öz yeterlik düzeylerinde istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark olduğu belirlenmiştir. Kontrol ve deney grubunun ilk testi ve son testleri arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılık olmadığı gözlenmiştir. Farklı sportif etkinliklerin, beden eğitimi dersine yönelik tutum, özyeterlik ve sosyal beceri düzeylerinde istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık yaratmadığı söylenebilir

    İlköğretim 2. kademe ve ortaöğretim kurumlarındaki öğrencilerin beden eğitimi dersine yönelik tutumları, sosyal beceri ve özyeterlik düzeylerinin karşılaştırılması

    Bu arastırma; ilkögretim 2 . kademe ve orta ögretim kurumlarındaki ögrencilerin beden egitimi derslerine yönelik tutumları, sosyal beceri ve özyeterlik düzeylerinin belirlenmesi ve birbirleri arasındaki iliskileri incelemek amacıyla yapılmıstır. Arastırmaya zmir il merkezinde bulunan 9 devlet, 6 özel okulda okuyan 636 kız, 701 erkek olmak üzere toplam 1337 ögrenci gönüllü olarak katılmıstır. Ögrencilerin, beden egitimi derslerine yönelik tutumlarını belirlemek için Zekai Pehlivan tarafından 1998 yılında gelistirilen “Beden Egitimi Dersine Yönelik Tutum” ölçegi kullanılmıstır. Sosyal beceri düzeylerini belirmek için J. L. Matson ve arkadasları tarafından (1979) gelistirilen ve Kocayürek (2000) tarafından Türkçe’ye uyarlanan “Matson Çocuklarda Sosyal Becerileri Degerlendirme Ölçegi” kullanılmıstır. Özyeterlik düzeyini belirlemek için Ralf Schwarzer ve arkadasları tarafından (1979) gelistirilmis ve Teközel (2002) tarafından Türkçe’ye uyarlanan “Genel Özyeterlik Ölçegi” kullanılmıstır. Çalısmanın sonucunda; ögrencilerin beden egitimi derslerine yönelik tutum seviyeleri düsük düzeyde, özyeterlik ve olumlu sosyal beceri seviyeleri ise yüksek düzeyde oldugu belirlenmistir. Beden egitimi derslerine yönelik tutum ile cinsiyet, okul türü, okullarda bulunan spor tesisleri, gelir düzeyini algılama arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklar bulunmustur. Sosyal beceri düzeylerinde kız ögrencilerin olumlu sosyal becerileri erkek ögrencilerden daha yüksek olarak belirlenmistir. Sportif etkinliklere katılan ögrencilerin olumlu sosyal becerileri daha yüksek düzeyde oldugu saptanmıstır. Olumsuz sosyal beceri düzeyleri ise özel okullarda okuyan ögrencilerde daha yüksek olarak belirlenmistir. Gelir düzeylerini kötü olarak algılayan grubun olumsuz sosyal beceri düzeyleri gelir düzeyini iyi ve orta olarak algılayan gruplardan daha yüksek düzeyde bulunmustur. Sportif etkinliklere katılan grubun özyeterlik düzeyleri, katılmayanlara göre daha yüksek olarak belirlenmistir. Gelir düzeyini iyi olarak algılayan grubun özyeterlik düzeyi gelir düzeylerini orta ve kötü olarak algılayan gruplardan daha yüksek saptanmıstır. Ögrencilerin beden egitimi derslerine yönelik tutum puan ortalamaları, özyeterlik, olumlu ve olumsuz sosyal beceri puan ortalamaları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir iliski bulunmustur. Beden egitimi derslerine yönelik tutum düzeyi yükseldikçe; özyeterlik, olumlu ve olumsuz sosyal beceri düzeyleri de artmaktadır.

    THE RELATION BETWEEN PSYCHOLOGICAL WELLNESS AND PERCEPTION OF SUCCESS OF HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS DOING SPORTS

    The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between psychological well-being and perception of success of high school students who do sports. The sample of the study consists of a total of 420 students, 140 female and 280 male, studying at high schools. In this study, Personal Information Form prepared by the researcher, the psychological well-being scale developed by Diener et al. (2009) to measure sociopsychological well-being and whose Turkish version and, the validity and reliability study was conducted by Telef in 2013, and the perception of success inventory (Child Version BAE-C) developed by Roberts et al. (1998) and whose adaptation to Turkish was made by Kazak Cetinkalp (2006) were used. As a result, there is no relationship between individuals' ego orientations and their psychological well-being; however, it showed that there is a significant positive relationship between task orientations and psychological well-being at the level of trust.

    The Relationship Among Personality, Cognitive Anxiety, Somatic Anxiety, Physiological Arousal, and Performance in Male Athletes

    The present study examined the association between personality, competitive anxiety, somatic anxiety and physiological arousal in athletes with high and low anxiety levels. Anxiety was manipulated by means of an incentive. Fifty male participants, first, completed the Five Factor Personality Inventory and their resting electro dermal activity (EDA) was recorded. In the second stage, participants were randomly assigned to high or low anxiety groups. Individual EDAs were recorded again to determine precompetition physiological arousal. Participants also completed the Competitive State Anxiety Inventory-2 (CSAI-2) and played a computer-simulated soccer match. Results showed that neuroticism was related to both CSAI-2 components and physiological arousal only in the group receiving the incentive. Winners had higher levels of cognitive anxiety and lower levels of physiological arousal than losers. On the basis of these findings, we concluded that an athlete's neurotic personality may influence his cognitive and physiological responses in a competition.

    The relationship between body perception and nutrition of B2-B3 impaired athletes

    Study Objectives: It is aimed to investigate the relationship between body perception and nutrition of b2-b3 visually impaired athletes. In addition, another aim of this study is to determine the knowledge of b2-b3 visually impaired athletes about body perception and nutrition. Methods: The study was conducted with the participation of a total of 108 volunteers, 40 women and 68 men, from b2-b3 visually impaired athletes, who played professionally in different clubs, and the relationship between body perception and nutritional variables and demographic characteristics were analyzed. Volunteering was taken into account in participation. As the data collection tool, the Personal Information Form and the body perception scale developed by Secord and Jourard, whose validity and reliability study was conducted and adapted into Turkish by Hovardaoglu, and the three-factor nutrition scale developed by Karlsson et al. were used. Results: Body perception scale total score means of the individuals differ significantly according to gender and educational status (p<0.05). No significant differences were obtained for other demographic variables (p>0.05). While there was a significant difference in the four-factor nutrition questionnaire of the individuals and the subscales according to gender (p<0.05), there was no significant difference in terms of age and disability status, sports branch, education status, income status, vision level (p>0.05). There was a statistically significant strong positive directional relationship between Body Perception Scale and Four Factor Nutrition Survey (p<0.05). Conclusion: It was determined that the training programs, competitions, and resting intervals of the sports life of B2-B3 visually impaired athletes have an effective role on body perception as they have a controllable nutritional habit. In short, we can say that the thoughts or ideas of visually disabled athletes about body perception are extremely effective on nutrition.

    The Relationship between Nutrition and Life Satisfaction of Football Players in COVID-19 Period

    Study Objectives: Nutrition and life satisfaction are very important for every living thing, but it has a different importance for individuals who do sports. The aim of this study was to compare the relationship between nutrition and life satisfaction of football players in the COVID-19 period and to evaluate with various variables. Methods: The research was conducted with 306 male players who actively played football in various clubs in the city center of Izmir between 2020 and 2021. The data were collected by using a personal information form, a three-factor nutrition questionnaire, and a life satisfaction scale. Results: The total scores of the life satisfaction scale differ significantly according to the age groups, income levels, future expectations, and loneliness levels of the football players (p<0.05). The total scores of the life satisfaction scale differ significantly according to their body mass index (BMI) groups, licensed football seniority, and their future expectations (p>0.05). The 4-Factor Nutrition Questionnaire and subscale total scores of the football players do not differ significantly in terms of loneliness level, age, licensed football seniority, level of income, and level of loneliness (p > 0.05). There is no relationship between the life satisfaction scale of individuals and the subscales of the Nutrition scale (p>0.05). There is a statistically significant positive correlation between the total scores of the Life Satisfaction Scale and the 4 Factor Nutrition Questionnaire (p<0.05). Conclusion: The more people enjoy life and the happier they are in life, the higher their life satisfaction will be. The diet of individuals with high life satisfaction is regular and they eat regularly. Individuals who are healthy and do not have psychological problems have high life satisfaction and healthy nutrition.

    THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE EMOTIONAL STATES AND MOTIVATION OF HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS DOING SPORTS

    The aim of this research was to The Relationship Between Positive And Negative Emotional States And Motivation Of High School Students Doing Sports. The sample of the research consists of 441 students in total, 290 Male and 151 Female, studying at high schools. With the personal information form to determine demographic characteristics, the Panas scale which was developed by Watson et al. (1988) and adapted into Turkish by Gencoz (2000) and which examines emotional states with positive and negative dimensions, and The Sports Motivation Scale which was developed by Pelletier et al. (1995) and adapted into Turkish by Kazak (2004), were used. The data obtained were analyzed with SPSS 23.0 statistical package program. In the evaluation of the data, t-test for independent samples and One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) tests for differences between groups and the Tukey Post Hoc test and Pearson Correlation test were used. As a result of the research; sportsspecific success and motivation levels of students who are constantly engaged in sports; significance levels were examined according to gender, age, education, income level, place of residence, duration of doing sports, doing sports with license, frequency of doing sports, and being interested in different branches, and it was seen that there was no statistically significant difference.
