dc.description.abstract | Mixedcropping of cereals and legumes generally provide many benefits including positive effect on soil structure, nitrogen fixation and high quality biomass. Intercropping is becoming widespread in the world and our country due to reduced costs and availability of forage during the grazing season. The aim of paper is to evaluate the forage utilization of winter legume forage pea with cereals mixtures' relation to yield and some yield characteristics in Bornova and Odemis locations, Izmir/Turkey under Mediterranean ecological conditions. This research conducted in the experimental fields of Field Crops Department of Faculty of Agriculture and Odemis Training School, Ege University in 2015-2017 winter seasons. The experiment was established under completely randomized block design with four replicates. The forage pea (Pisum arvense L. cv. Taskent) was grown in monoculture or mixture with annual rye pass (Loliurn tnultillorum cv. Caramba, cv. Pollanum and cv. Trinova). barley (IIordeum vulgare cv. Kral-97), oat (Avena saliva cv. Faikbey) and triticale (x Triticosecale Wittmack cv. Tacettinbey). In the trial, legume plant height (cm), legume ratio in fresh herbage ( s), fresh herbage yield (t ha-t), hay yield (t ha-t), dry matter content (%), crude protein content (%) and crude ash content (%) determined According to data, two years average results indicated that the highest hay yield in mixtures was obtained from triticale+forage pea mixtures. | en_US |
