dc.description.abstract | This study aims to analyze the fatty acid composition and neuroprotective potential of some selected Lamiaceae taxa from Turkey. For this purpose, methanol extracts of Lamium album L., Lamium garganicum L., Phlomis rigida Labill., Salvia syriaca L., Salvia sclarea L., and Stachys cretica subsp. anatolica Rech. f. were investigated for their activity against hydrogen peroxide induced neuronal cell death. The fatty acid compositions were analyzed by GC-FID, and the IA and IT indices and the omega 3/omega 6 ratio were also calculated. Saturated and unsaturated fatty acids of selected Lamiaceae species were measured to range from 8.92-17.59% and 75.13-84.57%, respectively. Phlomis rigida with the highest omega 3/omega 6 was shown to have the highest neuroprotection against H2O2-induced cell toxicity. | en_US |
