Özet

The term micrencephaly refers to apparent diminution of brain volume in the presence of normal calvarial bones. This paper presents a 25-day-old neonate with widespread infarction in the territories of internal carotid arteries due to dessiminated intravascular coagulation who developed micrencephaly over the next 75 days. This type of micrencephaly, which developed well beyond the perinatal period, here labeled as "acquired micrencephaly" compared to the micrencephaly usually resulting from perinatal or congenital events. © 1994 Springer-Verlag.
