Özet
Technical textiles are defined as textile materials and products produced primarily for their technical and performance properties, rather than their aesthetic or decorative properties. One of the important sub-categories of technical textiles in the classification of usage areas is mobiletech. According to research, approximately 18% of textiles used in vehicles are automotive upholstery fabrics. The textiles used in the interior upholstery of the vehicles should have properties such as durability, dust resistance, and comfort. In general, all textile production processes are suitable for technical textile production. However, since the mechanical, chemical, and comfort properties of technical textiles are important, special production processes are also required. Automotive upholstery fabrics traditionally consist of combining three layers: upper surface fabric, lamination foam, and backing fabric. At the top surface of the 3-component structure; jacquard or dobby woven fabrics, woven velvet fabrics, warp knitted fabrics, raschel double needle bar knitted fabrics, and circular knitted fabrics called face fabric are used. PET-based air-texturized or friction- texturized yarns, which meet automotive standards such as high abrasion resistance, flame retardancy, and light fastness, are widely used in the production of face fabrics. Uppersurface fabric structures are produced to provide basic technical and aesthetic properties. After the face fabric is produced, washing is performed to remove impurities from the fabric and improve the hand. Then, the washed fabric is passed through the stenter machine, and the drying process is carried out by providing aspect stabilization, which is called the finishing process. Chemical finishing is done if necessary to meet the OEM-defined specifications. As an intermediate layer, polyurethane or polyester-based lamination foam is used between the upper surface fabric and the backing fabric. It is used to increase comfort feeling with its resilience property and to prevent wrinkling of the upper surface fabric. The backing fabric is produced using PET or PA-based yarn in warp or circular knitted fabric construction. The main purpose of the backing layer is to reduce the frictional resistance that may occur from the foam-foam combination during the assembly of the seat cover to the seat foam. Various lamination methods can be used to bond the upper surface fabric, foam, and backing fabric layer. In this technique, flame is applied to both sides of the foam and the surfaces of the foam are melted to ensure adhesion. In the meantime, the upper surface fabric and the backing fabric are brought together with the foam, and adhesion is ensured. Thus, a three-layer composite structure is obtained. After this threelayered textile structure is produced, it is subjected to the cutting-sewing process and ready to be trimmed in the interior parts of the vehicle intended for use. © 2024 by Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
