Özet
Introduction: Eyelids are significant aesthetic and functional structures that protect the eye and attribute to facial expression. Eye drooping and its therapy is involved with the muscular and ligamentous structures in the upper lid. Material and Methods: Upper lid anatomy intended for ptosis surgery is reviewed in literature. Cadaver dissection findings were evaluated with the literature knowledge. The dissection was recorded in high-definition video format. Results: Upper lid skin, orbicular muscle, levator muscle and its aponeurosis, Muller's muscle, tarsi, ligamentous structures and adipose tissue and their relations were shown in the dissection. Discussion: The anatomical findings of ptosis surgery in literature were compared by our dissection findings and evaluated. Conclusion: Knowledge of the complex anatomy of the upper lid is of paramount importance for the successful functional and aesthetic surgical results of this region.
