Özet
In modern translation studies, it has been accepted that translation is much more than a simple intertextual transmission process and can rather be a catalyst for social transformation processes. Increased awareness of this crucial role of translation in transforming societies has led to the need to spotlight translators as active agents of this process. This article is dedicated to an indepth analysis of Sirin Tekeli's life journey. As one of the driving forces behind one of the most significant political movements in Turkey in the 1980s through her translations, her life serves as a source of insights into both the translator's understanding of translation and the social context of the time. The aim is to make the role of the translator and translation in social transformation processes more visible.
