Özet

Edema is a natural response of the trauma whether it occurs due to an accident or an operation. Control of the edema is one of the important factors of healing. Moreover, a stump without an edema is necessary for prosthetic application. The research was designed to measure the edema of the patients who were applied elastic bandage and rigid dressing after lower extremity amputations. All measured changes were mentioned as a percent volume during the research period. The results demonstrated that the amount of edema in the experimental group was much more reduced than the control group after the 30th day of amputation. The difference was found statistically significant between these two groups (p<0.05).
