Özet
.Archetypes appear in folklore products which are common cultural products of one society and reflection of common unconscious. The most mentioned archetypes are persona, anima, animus, shadow, self, old wise man, hero (stage) and mother (Great Mother). "Mother (Great Mother) archetype" has function of the first step to understanding meaning of creation, existence and Cosmos. This characteristic is a reflection of the relationship between mother and new born child. It is possible to say that the main positive and negative characteristics of mother archetype in Turkish mythology could be seen in different types. While Ak Ene, Umay and Od Ene types have positive, Alkansi, Albasti, Yalmavuz, witch, Kocakan etc. types have negative characteristics. In this study, the examples of mother (Great Mother) archetype in Turkish mythology will be analyzed and its manifestations in Turkish culture will be determined. Also, the characteristics of mother archetype in Turkish mythology will provide our evaluation of knowledge and experience of process of existence.
