Anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor encephalitis has been raising increasing interest in pediatric literature, and its clinical features have been progressively better defined. Anti- NMDA receptor encephalitis is characterized by acute or sub-acute onset encephalopathy with extrapyramidal, psychiatric, and epileptic manifestations. The encephalitis has become a leading cause of autoimmune encephalitis in children and adolescents. Accurate and timely diagnosis is critical to selection of treatments, and optimal patient outcomes. Diagnosis is confirmed by positive antibodies to NMDA receptor in cerebrospinal fluid and serum. Brain imaging and electroencephalographic findings are not spesific, they only support the suspected diagnosis. Herein we report on a 5-year-old boy with non-paraneoplastic anti-NMDA receptor (NMDAR) encephalitis, who presented with psychotic symptoms, insomnia and involuntary movement following a seizure. © 2014 by Tür ki ye Kli nik le ri.en_US
