Özet

Materials in the nanoscale range are used as diagnostic instruments or to deliver therapeutic compounds to specific targeted regions in a controlled manner in nanosized delivery systems. Since it might be challenging to deliver free medications in conventional dosage forms to the target place at the right dose, after, or during the right period, drug targeting to specific organs and tissues has emerged as one of the century?s most important initiatives. Therefore, one of the frontier research fields is the hunt for novel drug delivery systems (DDS) and modes of action. By delivering precise medications to specified locations and targets, nanotechnology provides numerous advantages in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). The most prevalent health issue in the world—CVD—continues to be the number one cause of morbidity and mortality. Because of poor pharmacokinetics and excessive toxicity, the pharmacological treatment for CV disorders remains inadequate despite recent improvements in management. The use of nanotechnology in the treatment of CVDs has recently seen several notable applications. Numerous of these technologies have already been commercialized, demonstrating the advantages of these novel carriers. Also, there are some new strategies like micro/nanorobots and 3D printing technologies in this field. Current techniques and recent advances in this field will be discussed in this chapter. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
