Öğe Food habits of the Lycian Salamander, Lyciasalamandra fazilae (Basoglu and Atatur, 1974): Preliminary data on Dalyan population(Univ Oradea Publ House, 2007) Cicek, Kerim; Tok, Cemal Varol; Mermer, Ahmet; Tosunoglu, Murat; Ayaz, DincerWe analyzed stomach contents of 21 (13 (3,3, 8 female female) adult Lycian salamanders, Lyciasalaniandra fazilae, inhabiting Go)kbel and iztuzu, south of Dalyan (Koycegiz, Mugla). Although various terrestrial invertebrates constitute the diet of the salamander, larvae and adult beetles (39.61%), centipedes (16.88%) are the most important food groups. Lyciasalaniandra fazilae is an active predator capable of changing its feeding regime in proportion to the species richness within its habitat.Öğe Hematology of the Lycian Salamander, Lyciasalamandra fazilae(Univ Oradea Publ House, 2009) Tok, Cemal Varol; Tosunoglu, Murat; Ayaz, Dincer; Cicek, Kerim; Gul, CigdemWe examined some hematological parameters and the cytomorphometry of blood cells (erythrocyte, leucocyte and thrombocyte) in 10 (5 males, 5 females) adult Lycian salamanders, Lyciasalamandra fazilae, from Iztuzu - Mugla, Turkey. In 1 mm(3) of blood, we estimated the erythrocyte count as 1.06x10(5) (0.73x10(5)-1.40x10(5)), leucocyte count as 2.14x10(3) (1.60x10(3) - 2.87x10(3)), haemoglobin amount as 5.00 (4.80-5.20) g/dl, hematocrit value as 36.66 (36.00-38.00) %, mean cell volume as 3281.2 (2714.3-3600.0) fl, mean cell haemoglobin as 451.01 (342.86-520.00) pg, and mean cell haemoglobin concentration as 13.65 (12.63-14.44) %. Small differences were observed in cell sizes, although they are concluded to be individual variations.Öğe Hematology of the Lycian Salamander, Lyciasalamandra fazilae(Univ Oradea Publ House, 2009) Tok, Cemal Varol; Tosunoglu, Murat; Ayaz, Dincer; Cicek, Kerim; Gul, CigdemWe examined some hematological parameters and the cytomorphometry of blood cells (erythrocyte, leucocyte and thrombocyte) in 10 (5 males, 5 females) adult Lycian salamanders, Lyciasalamandra fazilae, from Iztuzu - Mugla, Turkey. Morphometric differences were noted among sexes and populations. Electrophoretic patterns demonstrated significant differences between the taxa and supported their status as distinct species.Öğe New records of the Anatolian Worm Lizard, Blanus strauchi (BEDRIAGA, 1884), from Turkey (Squamata: Amphisbaenia: Blanidae)(Osterreichische Gesellschaft Herpetologie E V, 2012) Tok, Cemal Varol; Tosunoglu, Murat; Ayaz, Dincer; Cicek, Kerim; Mutlu, Hasan SerdarIn this study, eight specimens of Blanus strauchi (BEDRIAGA, 1884) from two new localities in Turkey (Dutluca Village, Kemaliye, Erzincan and Burdur) were examined in terms of morphological characters and included in the subspecies B. s. aporus (WERNER, 1898). With the record of Dutluca Village, the distribution of the species was extended about 120 km northwards, whereas the record of Burdur is a new locality within its distributional range. An updated distribution map of B. strauchi in Turkey was provided.Öğe Population estimate and body size of European pond turtles (Emys orbicularis) from Pazaragac (Afyonkarahisar/Turkey)(Walter De Gruyter Gmbh, 2007) Ayaz, Dincer; Fritz, Uwe; Tok, Cemal Varol; Mermer, Ahmet; Tosunoglu, Murat; Afsar, Murat; Cicek, KerimData on population size, adult sex ratio, body size and mass are provided for a population of the turtle Emys orbicularis near Pazaragac (Afyonkarahisar/Turkey). Using the mark-recapture method (triple catch), a population size of 664 turtles was estimated (95% confidence interval, range 332-996), corresponding to a density of 83 turtles per hectare (range 41.5-124.5). The adult sex-ratio was significantly skewed in favor of males (2.02 males: 1 female; P < 0.001). Almost all recorded specimens were adult (98.1%). Mean straight carapace length (SCL) and body mass (BM) of adult turtles were: SCL = 128.65 mm, BM = 345 g for males (n = 168) and SCL = 135.37 mm, BM = 463 g for females (n = 83).
