Öğe Chemical constituents from Anthemis wiedemanniana Fisch. & Mey.(2011) Gonenc T.; Argyropoulou C.; Erdogan T.; Gousiadou C.; Juergenliemk G.; Kivçak B.; Skaltsa H.The lipophilic extract of the aerial parts of Anthemis wiedemanniana Fisch. & Mey, a Turkish endemic species, was investigated. In addition to one new natural product, namely 3,4,4-trimethyl-6-carboxy-cyclohex-2-ene-1-one, five known sesquiterpene lactones, five methylated flavonoids, one simple phenolic derivative and one nor-isoprenoid were isolated. Among the sesquiterpene lactones, canin was found to be the main compound. © 2011 Elsevier Ltd.Öğe Determination of fatty acid and essential oil constituents and biological activities on ranunculus pedatus subsp. Pedatus(Chemical Publishing Co., 2014) Erdogan T.; Gonenc T.; Demirci B.; Kivçak B.; Baser K.H.C.In this study, the fatty-acid profile, essential-oil composition and cytotoxic and antioxidant activities of the aerial parts of Ranunculus pedatus Waldst. & Kit. subsp. pedatus have been examined. Linoleic acid (24.47 %) and palmitoleic acid (18.94 %) were identified as major components by GC-FID and GC/MS analysis. Unsaturated fatty acids were found in higher amounts than saturated fatty acids. The essential oil composition was also analyzed by GC and GC/MS and 29 components were characterized. Protoanemonin (14.3 %), phytol (13.7 %), ?-bisabolol (7.9 %), (Z)-3-hexenol (7.8 %) and octanol (6.7 %) were determined as the main constituents of the essential oil. Ethanol and chloroform extracts were investigated for the cytotoxic activity against PC3, HeLa and Vero human cancer cell lines and both of the extracts were found to be effective on HeLa. The IC50 values were determined as 47 and 78.4 mg/mL for methanol and chloroform extracts respectively. Antioxidant activity of chloroform and ethanol extracts were evaluated by DPPH assay. The total phenolics and flavonoid contents of the extracts were determined by Folin-Ciocalteau and aluminium chloride methods, respectively. The ethanol extract was found to possess 67.54 % DPPH inhibition. The results obtained in the antioxidant activity assay were in positive correlation with the total phenolics and flavonoid contents of the extracts.Öğe Fatty acid composition of the aerial parts of some Centaurea species in Elazi{dotless}g, Turkey(University of Benin, 2014) Erdogan T.; Gonenc T.; Cakilcioglu U.; Kivcak B.Purpose: To evaluate the fatty acid composition of six Centaurea species, viz, Centaurea behen, C. saligna, C. depressa, C. urvillei subsp. urvillei, C. urvillei subsp. hayekiana and C. aggregata subsp. aggregata, from Elazi{dotless}g, Turkey. Methods: Fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) of the oil extracts of four Centaurea species were prepared. The fatty acid compositions of Centaurea species were analyzed by gas chromatography (GC). Results: Saturated fatty acids (SFAs) in Centaurea species and subspecies ranged from 24.61 - 50.92% of their total fatty acid content, while monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs) were in the range of 3.40 - 37.96% and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) 12.21 - 20.57%. Palmitic acid C 16:0, oleic acid C 18:1 ?9 and linoleic acid C 18:1 ?3 were the major fatty acids in all the species. Oleic acid was the main constituent of C. urvillei subps. urvillei and C. agrregata subsp. aggregata with a content of 26.92 and 50.92%, respectively. Conclusi{dotless}on: The oil extracted from Centaurea species is a good source of essential fatty acids. © Pharmacotherapy Group, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Benin, Benin City, 300001 Nigeria.
