    Aydınoğulları and Ottoman Palaces at Gölcük Plateau on Mt. Bozdağ: In the Light of Archival Documents and Archaeological Surveys

    The mount of Bozdağ (ancient Tmolus) had a special meaning for the ruling class during the Aydınoğulları Principality and Ottoman periods. The Aydınid principality, residing at Birgi, and the Ottoman princes who were the governors in the city of Manisa spent the hot summer months on the plateaus of Bozdağ, especially in the sixteenth century, they carried out royal building activities in Gölcük and Bozdağ plateaus. Documents in the Prime Ministry Ottoman Archives and the travel books contain important information about the Ottoman royal life and highland palaces. A surface survey was initiated on the Gölcük plateau to identify these summer residences at 2021.
