Öğe The correlation of communication skills and emotional expressions among nursing students in turkey: A public university sample(Tehran University of Medical Sciences, 2020) Durgu, N.; Yıldırım, S.; Özdeş, A.B.; Özdemir, N.Background & Aim: Expressing emotions is very important both in interpersonal relationships and in the protection and maintenance of the individual's mental health. However, the individual must have certain skills to express his feelings healthily. The most important of these is communication skills. This research aimed to examine the correlation between communication skills and emotional expressions of nursing students. Methods & Materials: This correlational study was conducted among nursing students at a public university faculty of nursing in Turkey between 2016 and 2017. Of the total of 1423 students, 632 nursing students were selected using the convenience sampling method. The Introductory Information Form, the Berkeley Expressivity Questionnaire, and the Communication Skills Scale were used to collect data. The Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis H, and Pearson correlation tests were used for the analysis of the data. Results: The mean total Berkeley Expressivity Questionnaire score of the students was found to be 79.45±10.11, and the mean total score of the Communication Skills Scale was 97.67±11.20. Emotional expressions are affected by gender, marital status, class, income level, family structure, the residence where they have lived the longest, place of residence, and working status (p?0.05, p<0.01). It was found that there was a positive-directed correlation between students' emotional expressions and communication skills (p<0.01). Conclusion: It was concluded that communication skills and some sociodemographic characteristics of nursing students are correlated with their emotional expressions. © 2020, Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Bu çalısmada 52 yasındaki kadın hastada papiller sinsityal metaplazi ve villoglandüler endometrioid adenokarsinom birlikteliği sunulmustur.Öğe Prognosis-Related Novel Immunostaining Pattern for Programmed Cell Death Ligand 1 and Prognostic Value of Tumour-Infiltrating Lymphocytes in Triple-Negative Breast Cancer(Termedia Publishing House Ltd., 2023) Savaş, P.; Serin, G.; Gürsoy, P.; Zekioglu, O.; Özdemir, N.This study aims to determine the prognostic significance of programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression and tumour-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) in triplenegative breast cancer (TNBC). PD-L1 expression and TIL percentage were determined in TNBCs that did not receive neoadjuvant therapy. The relationship between PD-L1 expression and the percentage of TILs with survival was investigated. The presence of intratumoural PD-L1-positive tumour-infiltrating immune cells (TIICs) in tumours with ? 1% PD-L1 expression was identified as a new PD-L1 evaluation parameter. The presence of intratumoural PD-L1-positive TIICs as a new parameter in PD-L1-positive cases increased overall survival. The percentage of TILs increased in both overall and distant metastasis-free survival (p = 0.040 and p = 0.006, respectively). As a result, it was found that the risk of death was increased 5.18-fold (p = 0.013) in patients without intratumoural PD-L1-positive TIICs. This risk of death was calculated to be 5.40-fold higher in patients with TIL percentage ? 10% than in those with > 40% (p = 0.024), and the risk of distant metastasis was calculated to be 11.95 times higher. In our study, we discovered that the percentage of TILs made a statistically significant difference in TNBC survival. The presence of intratumoural PD-L1-positive TIICs in PD-L1-positive cases significantly increased survival. © 2023, Termedia Publishing House Ltd.. Therefore, patients are usually interested in methods promising rapid weight loss. In this study, we aimed to determine the frequency of herbal product use by overweight and obese individuals for weight management. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 464 individuals admitted to an endocrinology clinic in a hospital in Turkey. Socio-demographic status, medical history, and information about herbal product usage were recorded by researchers using a data collection form. The percentage of participants using herbal products for weight loss, was determined as 24.1% (n:112). Herbal product users were younger and had higher body mass index compared to non-users (p<0.01, for each). Gender and marital status were also related to herbal product use, and it was higher in women and singles (p<0.05, for each). The most preferred products were mixed herbal teas (50.9%), green tea, parsley, and cinnamon. Herbalists (56.3%) and local markets (24.1%) were the most popular places to buy herbal products. A large proportion of patients (88.4%) did not inform health professionals about their herbal usage. Using herbal products for weight management is common among overweight and obese individuals in Turkey. Therefore, it may be suggested that health professionals should monitor the use of these products and patient-physician communication about herbal medicine should be strengthened. © Mattioli 1885.
