Onion peels is a residue of food production. In the leather industry, the use of onion peels as a dye protects the environment from an ecological point of view and reduces the amount of chemicals contained in the leather. The study considered a method for obtaining natural extract from onion peels. The composition of the extract prepared from onion peels using a liquid hybrid (Q-TOF) LCMS-9030 mass spectrometer was determined. It was found that the extract prepared from onion peels contains the dye quercetin and other substances. The Otto Specth Bally Finish Tester was used to assess the strength of the paint. As a result of the analysis, the sample stained with onion peels extract showed a good result. © 2023 Ivanovo State Polytechnic University.
