In accordance with this purpose, national and international literature was reviewed within the scope of counselor education and counseling skills training. Afterwards, the place of counseling skills in counselor education, several descriptions and classifications of counseling skills, numerous systematic and structured counseling skills training programs and the current situation of counseling skills courses aiming at teaching counseling skills to counselor trainees at universities were described.
