Özet
The effect of softening treatments on woven fabric sewability and seam quality was studied. Some parameters, such as fabric construction, softener type and concentration, and stitch density were studied on three different cotton woven fabrics. Softening treatments were applied to the pre-treated plain, twill, and satin fabrics of 100% cotton under the same conditions. Seam efficiency was then calculated, seam appearance evaluated according to standard, and sewability tests performed. Highest seam efficiency was obtained with plain fabrics and macro silicone emulsion. Concentration increase had no effect on seam efficiency. As stitch density increased, seam efficiency values rose. Sewability improved markedly with macro silicone, especially for satin fabric. Best results based on seam appearance were obtained with twill fabric, silicone-based softeners, and higher softener concentration.
