Purpose: This study aimed to examine the weight retention and affecting psychosocial factors in women between 6-12 months postpartum. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted with 350 women who were 6-12 months postpartum between January 2021 and February 2023, at the time of the descriptive Covid-19 pandemic. In order to collect the data, an individual questionnaire was used with the "Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (ÇBASDÖ), Depression, Stress, Anxiety Inventory (DASS-21) and Body Satisfaction Scale". Results: The mean postpartum weight retention (PPWR) of the women was 13.71±5.70, 53.7% of the women had PPWR over 10 kg (43.7% 15 kg and above). While the obesity rate was 2% at the beginning of pregnancy, the postpartum obesity rate was found to be 35.4% and there was an increase of 33.4%. According to the Institute of Medicine (IOM) guideline, PPWR of those with normal pregnancy-start body mass index, high school graduate, moderate income, living in the city, smoking, having 2 children, low postpartum physical activity, was found to be high. As the social support of women increased between 6-12 months postpartum, PPWR decreased (p<0.05). As depression, anxiety and stress levels increased, PPWR decreased (p<0.05). Conclusions: More than half of the women participating in the study had PPWR ?10 kg. There was a one-third increase in the rate of postpartum obesity in women compared to the onset of pregnancy. health professionals; should provide weight management counseling during pregnancy and postpartum period, and make interventions for physical and psychosocial factors.
