Özet
Ölüm, kültürün oldukça kapsayıcı ve önemli bir öğesidir. Sadece basit bir fiziksel olay olmayıp doğası ve modelleri, toplumsal faktörler tarafından şekillendirilir. Modern ve Postmodern toplumlardaki ölüm deneyimi, Modern öncesi toplumlardan özellikleri açısından farklılıklar gösterir. Ölümün Modern temsilindeki ilk önemli adım, ölüm nedenini bedene bağlamak olmuştur. Böylece Modern toplumlarda ölüm, bedenin hastalığı olarak ortaya çıkmaya başlamıştır.
Death is an all-pervasive and significant part of the culture. It is not simply a physical event, rather its nature and patterns are shaped by societal factors. the experience of death in Modern and Postmodern societies is seen as qualitatively different from the one in previous societies. the first step towards Modern representations of death was locating the causes of death within the body. So deaths in modern industrial societies occur as a result of body‘s disease.
