Özet
This article discusses ways to improve the strength of leather materials. The experiments were conducted on the basis of «Turan-Skin» Company. Chrome-tanned cattle leather was used for the study. Natural extracts from onion peels, oak bark, and walnut shells were used as natural dyes. The process of preparation of natural extracts and methods of application them in leather finishing instead of a chemical pigment, have been studied. The finishing of the leather was carried out by spraying. The physical and mechanical characteristics of leather materials have been studied. The article presents analysis of the influence of technological parameters on the processing of leather materials using indicators of physical and mechanical properties such as: breaking load, elongation at break, average tearing load. Three types of control sample were used for comparative analysis: a sample with the use of chemical pigment, a sample with the use of water, and a sample without finishing. The analysis of the experimental results shows a significant improvement in the physical and mechanical properties of the leather after the use of herbal extracts. © 2023 Ivanovo State Polytechnic University.
