Özet
Yarattıgı istihdam olanakları ve ekonomiye sundugu katma deger açısından tütün, Türkiye için önemli bir tarımsal ürün olma niteligini korumaktadır. Türkiye tütün sektörünün genel bir degerlendirilmesinin yapıldıgı bu çalısmada, üretim ve pazarlama politikaları ile uygulamalar genel hatlarıyla ele alınarak; özellikle son yıllarda Türkiye tütün sektöründe meydana gelen degismeler ve 2002 yılında yürürlüge giren yeni yasanın uygulamada ne gibi sonuçlar ortaya çıkardıgı üzerinde durulmustur. Bu kapsamda çalısmada ayrıca, Türkiye tütüncülügünün güçlü ve zayıf yanları yanında, bazı önemli fırsatlar ve tehditlerle karsı karsıya olduguna deginilmistir.
Tobacco remains as an important agricultural product since it provides employment and added value to national economy in Turkey. In this study, which is making a general assessment of tobacco sector in Turkey, especially, general policies concerning production and marketing have been elaborated in general lines. The study is particularly focusing on the recent developments in Turkish tobacco sector and also what type of results that the new law, in effect as of 2002, has paved way to, in practice. Briefly, it can be said that while Turkish tobacco sector has its strengths and weaknesses, some important opportunities and threats are also lying ahead.
