Özet
Yunan ordusunun İzmir ve çevresini işgali, düzenli ordu birlikleriyle yapılan bir işgal şeklinde başlamış, birkaç saat içinde katliam ve yağma hareketine dönüşmüştür. İşgalin ilk günü başlayan orantısız şiddet birçok Türkün ölümüne sebep olmuş, işgal sahası genişledikçe öldürme, yağma ve ırza geçme olayları artmıştır. Yunan ordusu ve yerli Rumlarca yaratılan terör ortamı, işgal bölgelerinde yaşayan Türklerin hayatlarını tehlikede görerek ülkenin değişik kesimlerine göç etmesine neden olmuştur. Apar topar yollara koyularak mülteci durumuna düşen Türkler, her türlü yardıma muhtaç hale gelmişlerdir. Uluslararası bir yardım kuruluşu olan Hilal-i Ahmer Cemiyeti, İzmir ve çevresi mültecilerine yardım konusunda gecikmemiş, halkı da mültecilere yardım etmeye özendirecek çalışmalarda bulunmuştur. İzmir ve çevresi mültecilerine yardımda bulunmak kısa süre içinde bir kampanya halini almış, ülkenin dört bir yanında mülteciler için para toplanmaya başlanmıştır. Bu makalede, İzmir ve çevresi mültecileri için yapılan nakit yardımları, yardım toplamak için başvurulan yöntemler, yardımların hangi yollarla ulaştırıldığı ve yardımların toplam tutarı tespit edilmiştir.
The occupation of Izmir and surrounding areas by Greek army began in the form of an occupation with regular army troops but within a few hours it turned into slaughtering and looting movement. Nonproportional violence started on the first day of the the occupation caused deaths of many Turks, and as the invasion area expanded, killing, looting and rape were increased. The terrorism created by Greek army and native Rums gave rise to many Turks to see their lives in danger and migrate to different parts of the country. The Turks, who became refugees and started off precipitately, were in need of and kinds of help. Red Crescent Community, an international charity organization, spared no effort to help the refugees in Izmir and its environs, and made efforts to encourage people to help the refugees. Helping refugees in and around Izmir became a campaing in an short period of time, and funds were launched for refugees in Izmir and surroundings throughout the country. In this article, it is determined how much aid collected from which cities for the refugees in and around Izmir, the ways in which the aid is collected, the ways in which the aid is provided and the total sum of the aid.
