-41- 6. ÖZET Bu araştırmada, İzmir Tabakhanelerinde işlenen giysilik koyun derilerinin fiziksel ve kimyasal özellik lerini araştırarak, bu özelliklerin, giysilik bir deri den beklenen değerlere uygun olup olmadığını ortaya koy mak amacı ile yapılmıştır. B
SUMMARY This work has done to investigate the clothing sheep skin leather properties in Izmir tanneries to be processed. Results of investigation has compared with the standards of clothing leather. For this purpose, twenty pieces of clothing leather as materials were taken from Izmir tanneries. Physical and chemical properties were investigated ac cording to methods described in the related standards. Result of investigation from physical properti es of clothing leather such as the value of tensile st- 2 rength was found 63. 71 kgfcm. The acceptable level of tensile strength volue of clothing leather must b« minimum 100 kgy'cm2 (ANONYMUS, 1976) c In this investigation; elongation of clothing leathers was found 60. 48 f°. The elongation for clothing leathers must be maximum 80 $ (ANONYMUS, 1976). In the other hand, tear strength was found 2.30 kp.f and stitch tear strenght of this leathers were found 45.76 kg^cm. The level of this result was accep table for clothing leathers. The value rubbing fastness of leathers were fo und under the "3" in grey scale. Chemical properties of this leathers such as mois ture content was found 14.19 #.Leather substance was found of leathers 56.59 $ and Cr20-s content was found 4.87 $>* The acceptable le vel of Cr^O,, content of clothing leather must be mini- nun 2.5 f" Cr203 (ANONYMUS, 1976) 6 In investigation, fatty matters of leathers we re found 10.45 #. It must be between 4 to 10 %. In relation to total ash content, it was found 2.07 fo total ash. (Excluding Cr20^) and pH of leather was found 4.07. These results are acceptable for these leathers. The shrinkage temparature of this leather was found 115°C. As a result of this investigation, it can be said that the tanners hadn't been carefully in liming, bathing and pickling processes in Izmir tanneries. The The quantity of chrome used by tanners is more than the necessary level. It is lost for economic and harmful for ecology. Otherwise fatliquor used for softness and some mineral substance were also used more than the necessary, amount and there was not enough care for washing processes. The aim of this study is to show good or bad results of the processes utilized by tanners and also to give some ideas to the researchers to be study on these subjects.
