Özet
Tamamlayıcı tedaviler masaj, terapötik dokunma, aromaterapi, refleksoloji ve akupunktur gibi geniş bir oranda tedavi seçeneklerini kapsamaktadır. Bu tedavilerden bazıları temel hemşirelik uygulamalarının doğasında yer almaktadır.Bazıları da uygulamadan önce özel eğitimi gerektirir. Tamamlayıcı tedavi metotlarının birçoğu holizm kavramına odaklanma açısından hemşirelikle benzer özellik taşımaktadır.Tamamlayıcı tedavi metotlarının sağlık bakımı içinde hakkettiği noktada yer almasında hemşireler en uygun profesyonel gruptur. Hemşirelik mesleğinin bu süreç içindeki rolü tamamlayıcı tedavi uygulamalarının araştırmaya dayalı bağımsız bir meslek olarak yer almasında bir belirteç olacaktır.
Complementary therapies refer to a broad range of modalities such as massage, therapeutic touch, aromatherapy, reflexology, and acupuncture. Some of these therapies are inherent in basic nursing practice. Others require special education prior to performing them. Many complementary methods are similar to nursing in that they centre on the concept of holism. Nurses are among the most suitable professional groups to help complementary health care methods to attain their rightful place. The role of the nursing profession in this process will be seen as an indication of its standing as an independent research-based profession.
