Özet
The rapid development of technology has led to an increase in radiation sources. Electronic devices such as mobile phones, televisions, and computers, frequently used in daily life, are among the primary radiation sources. There are three principles for protection from radiation. These; are time, distance, and armor. Shielding is the most effective method for radiation protection. Radiation-shielding textile products containing lead are used to protect from radiation. Lead is the most used material in shielding due to its high atomic number and density. Lead's toxic, heavy, and brittle nature has led to the search for alternative shielding materials. This study aimed to develop textile materials that have shielding properties against X-rays. Within the scope of the study, three different dispersion preparations containing 60% by weight of Barium Sulfate, Bismuth Oxide, and Tungsten Oxide metal powders were made. Prepared dispersions were applied to four different fabrics with different constructions by a knife coating method. The radiation attenuation ratios of coated fabrics against X-rays at tube voltages of 40 kV, 60 kV, 80 kV, and 120 kV were investigated. As a result of the study, textile products with shielding properties against X-rays were obtained. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd
