Özet
Knitted fabrics are increasingly being used in composite applications due to advances in fiber technology, including high-performance fibers such as carbon, glass, and aramid, as well as the development of three-dimensional (3D) fiber-preforming machines. Knitted preforms have gained significant attention in various industries, including aerospace, medical, automotive, and civil engineering. Spacer-knitted fabrics are the most commonly used knitted textile preform, particularly for lightweight composites. Spacer-knitted fabric composites have better drapability and impact protection compared to other textile-based composites. In this chapter, the recent progress of the spacer-knitted fabrics in composites including composite manufacturing techniques, application possibilities, and some other performance properties compared to other composite materials will be investigated. © 2024 by Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
