Özet
The aim of this study is to investigate the potential use of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) waste as an adsorbent to remove radiotoxic elements Ce(III) and Sr(II) from aqueous solutions. Adsorption experiments were conducted using simple PET and modified PET (Phenol-PET) as an adsorbent. Fourier transform infrared, Thermogravimetric analysis, and Scanning electron microscopy methods were used for characterization. The results show that the maximum adsorption capacity for Ce(III) and Sr(II) was 1.27 mg/L and 1.92 mg/L using Phenol-PET, respectively. Adsorption processes are compatible with the Langmuir isotherm and according to the D-R isotherm, adsorption processes are defined as ion exchange. © 2023, Akadémiai Kiadó, Budapest, Hungary.
