Opioid dependency in the management of chronic pain

The benefit of opioids in the management of pain has been accepted indisputably. In spite of the suggestions, the use of opioids in insufficiently limited because of their possible complications. Development of tolerance and physical dependence take a remarkable place among the reasons of these limitations. Recent studies have emphasized that the development of real iatrogenic addictive behaviour is observed rarely and that the development of tolerance appears minimally. Ethically, these patients have to benefit sufficiently from opioids, when necessary.
