Özet

Ill ABSTRACT The study was carried out to investigate the effect of some natural and synthetic pigment materials on egg yolk pigmentation and criteria related to production. Three trials were conducted in this study. In the first trial, the layers were fed on a white corn-wheat basal diet containing additional lutein, alfalfa meal, marigold meal, paprika meal, fl-apo-8'- carotenoic acid ethyl ester, canthaxanthin and fl-apo-8'- carotenoic acid ethyl ester + canthaxanthin. The experimental diets contained on average 20 mg/kg total xanthophyll, except the basal diet. In the second trial diets, containing lutein, alfalfa meal, marigold meal, paprika meal, fl-apo-8'- carotenoic acid ethyl ester, canthaxanthin and fl-apo-8'- carotenoic acid ethyl ester + canthaxanthin in addition to 60 % yellow corn were used. The yellow corn diet contained on average 10. 4 mg/kg, the other experimental diets contained 20 mg/kg total xanthophyll. In the third trial, marigold concentrate and paprika oleoresin combinations were used. The experimental diets contained on 0, 10, 20, 30 mg/kg marigold concentrate and 0, 3, 6 mg/kg paprika oleoresin. Egg yolk colour was determined by using Roche Color Fan (RCF), A.O.A.C. method of fl -carotene equivalents (BCE) and Hunter Lab reflectance colorimeter.
