Özet

The characteristics of spawning of the shi drum were observed by video recording systems in the culture tanks in summer of 2006. Spawning was observed only in the groups induced with GnRHa hormone consist of injection and implantation. The spawning patterns were recorded after 20-24 h. in the groups manipulated with hormone. The eggs were obtained after 70-72 h. in the injected group and after 89-90 h. in hormone implanted group. Mean diameter of the eggs was measured to be 767.5±1.0 μm in Group I (hormone injected) and 753.5±1.3 μm in Group II (hormone implanted). There were significant differences in the amounts of total eggs and fertilized eggs between the hormone induced groups (p<0.05, Pearson’s χ2 test) and the control. The fecundity of Group II was significantly higher than those of Group I. The hatching was observed on 6th day only in the implanted group. Video recordings indicated that broodfish have some peculiar breeding signals before the spawning day. Six to ten hours before the first releasing of the eggs, a yellowish and oily foaming liquid was accumulated on the surface of egg collector clearly indicating the initiation of the spawning. The results of this study indicate that the spawning time can be determined if observed carefully.
