Özet
79 SUMMARY In order to examine the effect of some tillage methods on grain yield and weeding for wheat production in Bornova region, three tillage methods; - Conventional (with plough) - Tillage with rotary cultivator (without plough) - Tillage with rotary tiller (without plough) were investigated. In the field trial; in Ege University, Agricultural Faculty plots, the effect of tillage methods on soil moisture, soil compaction, seedling emergence, the density of weeds and wheat grain yield were examined in 1994-1995. For evaluation the soil physical conditions, it has been observed that the soil moisture loss was found high but soil compaction was less in tillage with rotary cultivator comparing with other two methods. The soil compaction level was under the danger level to effect the plant roots for all methods. Seedling emergence rate has been found 74.25%, 69.5% and 81% in conventional tillage, in tillage with rotary cultivator and in tillage with rotary respectively. So the seedling emergence rate was found not significant. According to observation made in the field trials for weed plants and density, 18 species with broad leaf and 4 species with narrow leaf were found. According the test results, tillage methods with rotary cultivator encouraged the weeds most. The density of weeds with broad leaf, in tillage with rotary cultivator was 2.5 more than the conventional method and 1.660 more than the tillage with rotary tiller. Similary the density of weeds with narrow leafs was found 4 and 2 times more than the conventional and tillage with rotary tiller. The grain yields were 3512.5 kg/ha, 3307.5 kg/ha and 4150kg/ha in clasical method, in tillage with rotory cultivator and in rotary tiller methods respectively. According to the test results there hes been found no significant yield difference among the tillage methods. The results was conducted for only one year. In order to get more precise and more accurate results, future research should be carried but for multiple years
