Özet
The inguinal canal contains the spermatic cord in the male, the round ligament of the uterus in the female, and the ilioinguinal nerve in both sexes. It is oblique and about 4 cm long, and slants downwards and medially, parallel with and a little above the inguinal ligament; it extends from the deep to the superficial inguinal rings. It is bounded: In front; by the skin, superficial fascia and aponeurosis of externa oblique; behind, by the reflected inguinal ligament, the falx inguinalis and the transversalis fascia, which separate it from extraperitoneal connective tissue and peritoneum; above, by the arched fibres of internal oblique and transversus abdominis; below, by the union of the transversalis fascia with the inguinal ligament and, at its medial and, by the lacuner ligament.
